No one would ever confuse a tractor for any other kind of vehicle, but you can legally drive one on the road in Texas under certain conditions. Avoid High Traffic Areas

You’re probably not going to drive your tractor through downtown, but you know the roads around your land and when people are on them. If you must drive on the road it’s best to do it when traffic is light.

 

Display Proper Signage

Your tractor doesn’t require a license plate but it will need a slow-moving vehicle (SMV) sign. All tractors must have two forward-facing headlights, a red tail light that’s continuous and visible for 500 feet and hazard lights. Your hazard lights must be flashing when you’re on the road. If you are towing anything behind your tractor it will also need a SMV sign.

 

Be a Courteous Motorist

Your tractor isn’t built for speed and the drivers you encounter won’t be thrilled to share the road with you. Be aware of impatient drivers as they pass because you can’t react very quickly.
